The Lumberg group

History

Lumberg was founded in 1933 by Erich and Karl Lumberg. From the beginning, the Westphalian town of Schalksmühle in the Sauerland has been the company's residence. In the early days Lumberg concentrated on the manufacture of different metal parts for different applications. More and more the company focussed on the production of antennas and components for wireless sets. Major market shares were obtained by tube mounts for TV sets, relay mounts and e.g. by banana plugs.
Plant Hälverstrasse about 1960
Lumberg has expanded con-tinuously during the almost 75 years of its existence. The plant in Cloppenburg was founded in 1971. Apart from the factory at Hälver-strasse a second factory is foun-ded in the industrial area of Ramsloh in 1988. Shortly after German reunification a factory is built in Hoyerswerda. It is not only the national distri-bution network which expands strongly in the seventies - in other European countries Lumberg gets a firm footing in the Netherlands in 1972, in France in 1976 and then in Great Britain. In the mid-eighties Lumberg establishes a distributing subsidiary in the USA. Today, 50 employees manufacture own pro-ducts for the American market. The Asian area has been looked after from Singapore since the end of the eighties. In Shanghai Lumberg started the production of mobile phone components and assemblies for the Chinese market in 2001.
