Inauguration of the New Lumberg Factory in Poland
Schalksmühle/Świebodzin, 16.06.2023. Within sight of the old Factory 5, the Lumberg Group celebrates the opening of the new fatory in Świebodzin, Poland, about 80 km away from Frankfurt an der Oder at the German-Polish border. In the newly built factory according to their own specifications, Meike Schmidt, Managing Partner of the Lumberg Group, together with her husband Ulrich Schmidt, Managing Director of the Lumberg Group, welcomed numerous guests of honor, companions, current service providers and the employees at a festive event. Production is still taking place in the “old” factory, but about half of the 450 colleagues have already moved to the new location.
In their speeches, Meike and Ulrich Schmidt recalled the start of production in Poland 16 years ago and traced the enormous growth of the site in Świebodzin to the present day, before Mayor Tomasz Sielicki gave his address, which in particular announced infrastructure improvements in the form of a bypass with better access to the highway, and – very importantly – the parish priest Radosław Gabrysz officially inaugurated the plant.
In the final stage of expansion, the factory in Poland will have around 21,000 m² of floor space, including offices in two halls, and will be the Lumberg Group’s second-largest production site after Cloppenburg in Lower Saxony, Gemany. The hall now occupied is the smaller of the two new buildings, with an area of 7,000 m². By the end of 2025, the second hall with 14,000 m² will be built directly next to it. The plant in Poland concentrates on the injection molding of certain product groups as well as on assembly work for the connectors, which has long since encompassed more than the once manual labor-intensive activities.
However, the speeches particularly emphasized and thanked the performance, commitment and dedication of the local employees – starting with the No. 1 employee in Poland, Aneta Garbowska, who is now the factory manager of this strategically important site for the Lumberg Group and without whom this success story in Poland would not have been written.
Before lunch with all employees in beautiful sunshine, Meike Schmidt also recalled the recent demise of her parents, Generation 2 of the Lumberg family company, who would certainly have liked to experience this moment, as they had founded the site in 2016. She then turned the page back to the present, stating, “I am proud that the Lumberg Group is on a steady, profitable growth path and thankful that we have such great managers, employees and cross-site teams here in Poland and also in the rest of the world who work tirelessly for the success of our company. Without all of you, as we sit here today, the growth of this site and the success of the Lumberg Group would not have been possible and for that we owe you our deepest thanks.”
