For exactly 91 years, the globally operating manufacturer of connector and contact systems has been headquartered, with its own development and production facilities, in Schalksmühle. Numerous international subsidiaries around the world now ensure a tightly knit distribution network. Recently, the Lumberg Group successfully transitioned from a liaison office to a full-fledged corporation in Turkey. At the end of August, “Lumberg Turkey Elektronik Limited Şirketi” was officially established in Izmir, with headquarters located in the Heris Tower in the Konak district, the city’s economic center.

“This step marks another significant milestone in our international business development and completes our presence with subsidiaries in growth markets from the U.S. to China,” emphasized Meike Schmidt, Managing Partner of the Lumberg Group, during the ceremonial opening in Izmir. “Today, Turkey already ranks among our top five sales markets worldwide,” she added. She traveled to Izmir with the entire project team responsible for laying the legal groundwork for the new company.

Tamer Tunç, Head of Lumberg Turkey, explained: “With nearly 4.5 million inhabitants, Izmir is the third-largest city in Turkey, a vibrant free-trade zone with the country’s second most important port after Istanbul. The industrial zone in Manisa, crucial for our strong business sectors of home appliances and building technology, is just around the corner. The local economy is heavily based on manufacturing, including automotive production, another key sector for Lumberg. With an increasing focus on sustainable development and technology promotion, Izmir has great potential to continue growing as a major industrial hub – a role it already plays for Lumberg today.”
